In recent weeks, a restoration of the seminary dining
room initiated by Fr. Wehner has induced a steady
transformation of the space. Local architect William
Heyer is
overseeing the project to ensure continuity with the
Josephinum's architecture and history. Mr. Heyer has
collaborated with the Jospehinum on a number of restoration
projects.
The Josephinum
has structured its priestly formation program around
the concept Forming
Renaissance Priests for the New Evangelization.
The dining room, where fraternity and fellowship are
shared most regularly, is a great place for seminarians
to call to mind their human formation as priests. Father
Wehner explains: "Future
priests need to cultivate the manners, social skills,
and sense of hospitality required for pastoral ministry.
How often did Our Lord use social environments and
even meals as occasion to preach the Good News. How
undesirable it is to see priests who are sloppy and
unkept in their social interactions."
