Saint Pius X Chapel

The most recently built of all the Josephinum chapels, Saint Pius X Chapel was completed in 1958. It has also undergone more changes than the other chapels. Originally, it had a high altar, marble floors and pews. In the 1970s, they were replaced with the more flexible furnishings of the period, and shutters were hung over the stained glass windows.

Since 1997, it has undergone renovation. A solid metal tabernacle, carpeting and a pipe organ were installed. This fine organ (pictured below) was originally constructed by M.P. Möller of Hagerstown, Md., in 1965. It has two keyboards and pedals with four ranks and a total of 377 pipes. The organ was donated in 1998, in memory of then College Vice Rector Msgr. Frank Lane’s mother, Mrs. Eileen Lane.

The new altar, credence table and ambo were donated and crafted by Dr's. Chuck and Debbie Caranna during the academic year 2001/2002.

The windows depict the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit, exemplified in the lives of seven pairs of saints, all of whom are models to the seminarians:

Wisdom
Understanding
Counsel
Fortitude
Knowledge
Piety
Fear of the Lord
