Circulation Policy

  • All currently enrolled students; faculty and staff of the Josephinum are eligible to borrow material from both the Josephinum library and OhioLINK member libraries.
  • Patrons with valid OhioLINK library cards may also borrow material from the Josephinum.
  • The Josephinum will issue library cards to affiliated patrons for an annual fee of $5.00. Priests, religious, permanent deacons of the Diocese of Columbus are eligible to apply for a library card.
  • All other members of the central Ohio community not affiliated with an OhioLINK institution are restricted to in-house use of material unless sponsored by a members of the Josephinum faculty. Library card application forms are available at the circulation desk.
  • All patrons are responsible for returning or renewing material by the date due.

  • PCJ sends a courtesy notice one day or three days before the material is due, depending on the material type.
  • PCJ sends two overdue notices. The first is sent one day after the item is due and a second notice is sent five days later.
  • Items are overdue one day after the due date.
  • Fines accrue at 10¢ per day.
  • Borrowing privileges are suspended upon accrued fines of $10 or more.
  • After thirty days items are declared lost and patrons receive a $50 bill which consists of a $35 replacement fee and $15 processing fee for each item.
  • OhioLINK sends a courtesy notice one day or three days before the material is due, depending on the material type.
  • OhioLINK sends one overdue notice, the first day after the item is due.
  • Items are overdue one day after the due date.
  • Fines accrue at 50¢ per day.
  • Borrowing privileges are suspended upon accrued fines of $10 or more.
  • After thirty days patrons receive a bill which consists of a $50 billing fee and $75 replacement cost for a total of $125 per item.
  • The $50 billing fee is charged even if the book is returned.
  • Fees are charged to all OhioLINK patrons and PCJ must enforce OhioLINK established fines.

 

Recalls

  • Books may be recalled at any time during the borrowing period. Material for course reserve will be recalled immediately .

Interlibrary Loan

  • Interlibrary loan services are available to members of the Josephinum community. Book and journal articles needed for research, but not available in the Josephinum's library, may be obtained through this setvice. As a member of OCLC the library has access to library collections throughout the United States and in many foreign countries. Interlibrary loan forms are available at the circulation desk and are posted on the library web page. The general policy of the library is to provide this service at no cost; however there may be exceptions.

Photocopying & Copyright

  • Photocopying is available at the cost of ten cents per copy.  Josephinum students may record photocopy charges in the notebook available at the circulation desk.  All debts must be paid before grades and transcripts are issued.

The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of copies of copyrighted materials.  Persons using the copy machine are personally responsible for any infringement of copyright law.

Library patrons are also responsible for complying with and obeying copyright laws and restrictions associated with electronic resources and online databases.  Patrons must comply with the copyright policies of each database or online service when printing and downloading information from these sources.
