LIVING STONES OF THE HOUSE OF JOSEPH
Recipients of Special Awards and Honors Bestowed by the Pontifical College Josephinum
Come to him, a living stone, rejected by human beings but chosen and precious in the sight of God, and, like living stones, let yourselves be built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 2:4-5
The Josephinum rests on a foundation of living stones. In its infancy, and for decades following, it was funded by supporters of a German newspaper – written single-handedly by founder Joseph Jessing and printed by the orphans who were provided for through its revenues. Since that time, throughout its history, the House of Joseph has been built up by living stones. Men, women, clergy, and laity who have lived a commitment to their faith, to our seminarians, and to the Church. Many of our living stones have been the recipients of special awards as we have attempted, in a small way, to honor them for the work of their hands.

The Jessing Alumnus of the Year Award
In 2008, the Pontifical College Josephinum created The Jessing Alumnus of the Year Award to recognize ordained and lay alumni who exhibit service to the Church in terms of longevity or significance in giving witness to the Church through a particular ministry within the parish, diocese, or community at large; and their support of their alma mater and her mission in the spirit of Monsignor Jessing.
